May the peace of Christ reign in your hearts. (Colossians 3:15)
Juan de Bonilla states that experience will show you that peace, which fills your soul with chartiy, the love of God and of your neighbor, is the road that leads directly to eternal life.
Fr. Jacques Phillippe goes on further to point out the way to God, and eternal life, is shorter and markedly easier if we can obtain and preserve a profound peace of heart. We we can do that, the heart then allows itself to be driven by the Holy Spirit. Then God is able to do more with it, by His grace, than the heart can do by its own efforts.
So the challenge is finding that interior peace so we can give our hearts over to the control of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Are we up to the challenge?
The gospels say we need the attitude of small children. When I pause to consider that, I hear the words of Yoda echoing in my head... We must unlearn, what we have learned.
Most loving Father,
I long for you. You are where true peace and love are found. But I am resistant and a rebel. Change my heart Lord. Replace my heart with yours so I no longer resist complete abandonment of my life to you. Let there be more of you and less of me Lord. Father, use my life to draw others to you.
